From Sarajevo: Full-Day Hike to Lukomir Village

2.Full-Day Hike to Lukomir Village

★★★★★★★★★★5.0 · 59 reviews · 7 to 9 hours (approx.) · from $90

Leave Sarajevo for Umoljani and Lukomir, Bosnia’s highest and most isolated village. With an English-speaking guide, you’ll walk mountain trails near Studeni Potok, visit a 200-year-old mosque and medieval stećak tombstones, and follow the edge of Rakitnica Canyon. Expect 7 to 9 hours, about 15 to 16 kilometers of walking, and weather-dependent mountain conditions.

“Pros: hiking guide was good. Cons: They put the 3 of us in the back of a VW golf, not exactly comfortable. Also, the driver sent us through twisty roads as fast as possible. I've never felt so nauseous. The lunch was overpriced and was probably the worst one I've had in 2.5 months of traveling. We got about 5 grams of meat, some tomato stew, and some donuts. Would skip. Also I believe I got food poisoning from it. Also at $89/pp I felt it was quite expensive for essentially a shuttle to the hiking start point.”
