“For my birthday, I treated myself to a solo trip to Bosnia & Herzegovina, and one of my favorite and most memorable activities is one I now recommend to anyone planning to visit Sarajevo and that’s signing up for Bosnian Cooking Lessons. From the very first message I received, I immediately felt as though Mersiha was a friend inviting me to her home for a delicious meal. She’s incredibly warm and friendly which made this experience all the more special. I truly appreciated the pick-up and drop-off transfer to and from Mersiha and her husband, Mustafa’s home, which further added to the feeling of visiting a friend for dinner. Mersiha…”

At Food House Mostar, an English-speaking guide such as Amina leads you through Bosnian cooking in a commercial kitchen. Prepare dishes such as dolma, japrak, burek, and hurmasice, then eat what you make with wine, beer, or a rakija welcome drink. The class lasts about three hours and begins at 5:00 pm.

“Host was great and really taught us the traditional techniques to create perfect Burek. Details hadn't been update on Viator booking site so wrong time was given meaning I missed the first part of the activity, however the hosts were very apologetic.”

3.Bosnian Traditional Handicraft, half-day – do it yourself – Coppersmith Workshop

★★★★★★★★★★5.0 · 13 reviews · 2 hours 30 minutes (approx.) · from $72Best value

At a historic coppersmith shop on Kovači Street, you’ll meet Sarajevo’s only female coppersmith, learn about the city’s copper tradition, and decorate your own džezva. The 2.5-hour workshop is in English, limited to four people, and includes coffee or tea. You’ll take your finished copper coffee pot home.

“The coppersmith workshop was absolutely fantastic, we have just finished it this afternoon. Unfortunately Funky tours is a third party involved in the booking and they are completely incompetent, but the coppersmith host is amazing and we had such a great time with her. If you book with funky tours, double check your booking confirmation with them as they have no idea what's going on. If you can choose this tour elsewhere with another company that also uses this same female coppersmith (she is the only female in her profession), then I'd recommend booking it with the other company.”
